BELARDE, FRANCISCO T. Age 33, of Riverside, Calif., died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Moreno Valley Community Hospital. He was employed as a courier for 12 years. He is the son of Adriano and Nelia Belarde, Riverside, CA. He is survived by his parents, Adriano J. and Nelia T. Belarde; Daughter, Amanda Belarde of Reno, NV.; Son, Jacob Belarde of Riverside, CA.; Sisters, Christine and Lemura Belarde, both of Riverside, CA.; Brothers, Rodelio Belarde of Moreno Valley, CA., Demetrio Belarde of Riverside, CA. and a host of other relatives and friends. Arrangements are being handled by MILLER-JONES MORENO VALLEY MORTUARY, 23618 Sunnymead Blvd., Moreno Valley, CA (951) 485-4542. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 26, 2004, 12 noon to 8 p.m. at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Perris, 1835 N. Perris Blvd. (951) 943-8313 and from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004 at Miller-Jones Mortuary Moreno Valley. Funeral service will be at St. Christophers Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2004. Interment will be at Olivewood Memorial Park in Riverside, Calif.

Hunter killed in accidental shooting

A quail hunter accidentally shot a fellow hunter to death while in a canyon near Jack Rabbit Trail south of Beaumont Saturday, authorities reported Sunday.

Francisco Belarde, 33, of Riverside died shortly after arriving at Moreno Valley Community Hospital, Riverside County coroner's officials said. The shooter, whose name was not released, and several members of the hunting party were interviewed and evidence was collected at the scene, said Sgt. Frank Taylor of the sheriff's central homicide unit. The case will be sent to the district attorney's office in Riverside to determine if negligence was involved, Taylor said.

The fatal shooting happened about 11:05 a.m. in the Badlands canyons about two miles south of Highway 60. The shooter reportedly struck Belarde with a round near an area covered by brush, deputies said.
